Long Eaton United A 4 v 2 Beeston Centurions Orange 1.jpg

Starting Line-Up:

Nathan (Goal Keeper)
George & Ashley (Defence)
Leon (Centre midfield)
Ben (Left Wing/midfield)
Samuel (Right Wing/midfield)
Euan (Striker)
Owen & Ethan (Subs)

This was Long Eaton’s first home game of the new season and as always Long Eaton had tremendous support.

Long Eaton started well catching Beeston napping as they opened brightly creating early chances that could easily have brought goals. Euan was unlucky when his snap shot saw the ball hit the underneath of the bar and the goal keeper grabbed.

Beeston started to wake up, urged on by their enthusiastic supporters. Then on 6 minutes Samuel opened the scoring for Long Eaton, showing good ball control in the box before driving into the net. Beeston battled and made it hard for Long Eaton but they could not match the Long Eaton passing moves and on 17 minutes Samuel scored his second after a determined run and finish.

Half time score 2 v 0.

Sheepbridge YLFC v Long Eaton United U14 Girls - 9/9/2007

The U14 Girls opened their campaign with a trip to Chesterfield to play Sheepbridge YFLC. This has traditionally proved to be a difficult fixture and was to do so again. The Blue pressed constantly throughout the first half but were unable to open up a resilient Sheepbridge defence. The Blues were always comfortable at the back until Sheepbridge scored late in the first half with one of their few opportunities.

As the second half progressed the Blues continued to strive for an equaliser but were faced with a strong and highly motivated Sheepbridge resistance. The anxiety within the supporters was escalating as we entered the last 10 minutes still one down. However, the Girls continued to show a huge determination to get back into the game and with two late surging runs Ford capped a very powerful performance on the day with two goals.

Long Eaton United u9 Blue v AFC Vernon Colts u9 White - 15/9/2007
Another tough game envisaged, as we have always struggled against Vernon

It was a great morning with sun shining brightly, and Long Eaton were playing some nice football knocking it about to feet with Ben doing great job up front stopping their defence from playing it out. Liam picking up loose stuff and playing it down the flanks (wings!) to Bradley and Jacko. This was a surprise for us, and it wasn’t long before we slotted one in through Jacko 1-0 Long Eaton.

Vernon seemed quite reserved to what we are used to, and we seemed to keep causing them problems with Jacko and Sam working together down the left, Stephen tidying up at the back…but before long Vernon started to get some belief and stated pushing and pushing Lewis now coming more into the play with a couple of saves. Suddenly Stephen got a break and moved down the pitch, as he moved towards his left, it was getting a tighter angle but using the outside of his right boot, put it away, 2-0 to Long Eaton!…. It stayed like that till half time.

Half Time 2-0

Weather conditions were excellent for both players and supporters and the opening part of the game saw both teams produce some good football with LE creating the better chances with some excellent passing moves.
