This looked to be a tricky fixture for Long Eaton after being beaten the last two times they met, although Long Eaton had weakened teams on both occasions. This time Long Eaton had a full strength side our.
The match started of quietly with scrappy play from both sides and it was like this for about 15 minutes with not much excitement, and Long eaton supporters starting to get edgy. Suddenly a bit of interplay down the right with Bradley and Ben, and then a scramble in the goal mouth allowing Liam to put away. 1-0 to Long Eaton.
Things started to get better for Long Eaton with nice interplay between Sammy & Stephen. which allowed some free play from Jacko, who started making his runs down the left flank. Another cross came in and there was Liam again, slotting in and even better goal, there was nice control by Liam to put it away so nicely. 2-0 to Long Eaton. Gelding now started to push out more, giving Sammy and Stephen plenty to think about but the speed of these two allowed them to snuff out any dangers with the ever commanding Lewis in goal as back up
A few minutes later another break down the right got the hardworking Ben in an ideal position to blast in the third. 3-0 to Long Eaton This all happened in about 10-15 minutes play it looked like Long Eaton were going to now get a hatful.
Half Time 3-0 to Long Eaton
Second half started and Long Eaton stepped of the gas, this has now happened in the last three games. We are going to have to stop this or we will keep being hit hard. Gedling were now pushing hard, as our boys were falling asleep, but we seem to get away with it this week as we slowly picked our game up, but no goals Then Tim dragged of three lads, and on came Matthew, William & Joe, again fresh legs made the difference, and we had another break and Joe slotted in another goal. 4-0 to Long Eaton Gelding continued to try hard, but the difference between First Division & Second Division told at the end.
Final Score 4-0 to Long Eaton
Long Eaton though, are going to have to stay focused when Second Halves start, we may have to stop giving them oranges at the break!
