Long Eaton United u9 Blue v Burton Joyce u9 29/9/2007 PDF Print E-mail
On a nice bright morning the match started a little late due to Burton lads getting stuck in traffic. Again from the onset this was going to be another tough game, and it wasn’t long before Burton’s big central midfielder had a wild crack at the ball and it screamed into the top corner with Lewis having no chance, 0-1 to Burton Joyce. this spurred on Long Eaton with Sam & Stephen trying hard to gee up the side, with Sam making some telling headers and Stephen making his usual runs.

Jacko was making some headway down the left flank and Bradley pushing hard down the right. Liam was having a tough job marking there big midfielder, mind you they had several really big guys, who were able to knock us off the ball easily.
Ben was trying his best to hold up the ball to bring other lads into play…but again, the big guys were really telling today. we had a break with a corner, and as we had been practising front post/back post tactics it was really good to see a good corner from Brad and it was met at the back post by Stephen to slot it away, 1-1.This is how it stayed till half time, with Long Eaton still in the game.

Half Time: 1-1

Second half again, put Long Eaton under pressure, and another good shot from Burton from quite deep blasted into the bottom corner,1-2 to Burton. More pressure from Burton induced a mistake at the back, 1-3 to Buton Joyce. Long Eaton tried to push on, with William, Matthew, and Joe coming on, but all to no avail…

Final Score 1-3 to Burton Joyce.

These big sides are always giving us problems, we appear now to be the smallest side in the league, but we never gave up & our passing game could be the best in the league. This will help the whole team for the future. There was times when our football was excellent, but, again, we are going to have to toughen up and try to hang onto the ball & make effective tackles.
