4 games were played, 10 minutes each way at The Becket School, Wilford.
Game 1
Lily (C), Jack, Matthew, Sam, Jarrett, Oscar, Max (GK)
Long Eaton Utd started off at a great pace attacking immediately – Oscar had a near miss within 30 seconds and Sam scored goal number 1 within minutes! The passing was fast and furious with Jarrett having a near miss followed by goal number 2 from Oscar, passed beautifully by Sam. Long Eaton kept their attempts on goal coming with Holy Spirits goalie saving 2 more. We kept moving forward, with some great passing, followed by goal number 3 from Oscar. Some cracking defending by Jack and Lily followed as all the action was down the other end. Another crack at the post by Oscar just before the half-time whistle.
The action continued in the second-half with Oscar being denied his hat-trick within the first minute only for it to rebound to Jack who was unlucky too. Sam took a great corner with a bit of scuffling in the box to win another corner, and another! It came off Jarrett to Matthew – goal 4! Holy Spirit made a run for it and managed to get a corner; they followed it through nicely and gave Max his first touch of the ball. We soon had the ball back with some fantastic passing between Sam, Jarrett and Matthew; they fed it through to Oscar - their keeper was out of his goal – hat-trick – goal 5! Just before the final whistle Jarrett had one saved by their defender on the goal-line.
5 - 0 fantastic result for an impressive, attacking side.
Game 2
Lee (C), Max, Ethan, Oliver, Matthew W, Sean, Jack (GK)
For this game things were pretty evenly matched between the two sides with them both having a few chances – Max made a great effort but was nicely blocked by their defence. Oliver was defending well and Matthew W was doing a lot of running up-front trying to get something in the box. Max had another go at scoring but caught the post. Lee and Ethan kept getting the ball forward and Jack managed to deny Holy Spirit a goal, we nearly got one when Max passed a lovely ball to Sean but it just missed the target.
Hannah came on for Ethan in the second-half to play up-front. Holy Spirit passed a nice long ball down the pitch for Jack to save. We took the ball forward again quickly and had a near miss from Sean. Oliver took a lovely corner, followed swiftly by a useful free-kick that was just wide. Hannah got herself in the box a few times but Holy Spirit defended well. Matthew W picked up an injury and Ethan came on for him to work up-front. The action continued from end-to-end with Holy Spirit getting a consolation corner before the final whistle.

Game 3
Oscar (C), Max, Jack, Sam, Matthew, Jarrett, Lily (GK)
Buoyed by their success in game 1, Long Eaton were on the attack immediately with Jarrett getting goal 1 within 30 seconds! We kept the ball up the attacking-half with Oscar passing to Jarrett who hit the bar! Sam took a fantastic corner which had Matthew on the end – goal number 2! We gave Holy Spirit defenders plenty of work and eventually Sam made a lovely pass to Oscar – goal 3. Jack and Max had a little defending of their own to do as Holy Spirit seemed determined to get one back. The ball went to Oscar who made a long-range effort which the goalie saved. Matthew took the corner which Max made an effort on and we thought 4 was in – but it wasn’t to be. It soon came round though with Matthew making another well-placed pass to Oscar seconds before half-time – it’s in – goal 4!
For the second-half, Jarrett was in goal for Lily who took up her defensive position, whilst Max moved to midfield. Attacking again, moving forward all the time with some fantastic passing between Matthew, Sam and Max, any loose balls soon got sorted out by Jack and Lily. Oscar made a couple of soft attempts at the keeper and Max had a near miss. Matthew took a great corner with Max eventually feeding the ball to Oscar for him to slide it in for goal number 5! Holy Spirit upped the ante and Lily had some hard defending to do. Some good work from Jack followed and Sam made some lovely precise passes, one got to Max who went for it – goal 6! Lily had to work-hard as Holy Spirit made a counter-attack but Jarrett sorted it out. Holy Spirit denied Oscar and Max a couple more times only for Oscar to get the last one in just before the final-whistle – 7
7 – 0 what a fantastic game, great skills, passing and defending.
Game 4
Oliver (C), Sean, Hannah, Ethan, Lee, Matthew W, Matthew (GK)
Holy Spirit wanted to win this one and Matthew W, Ethan and Sean had to work to get the ball. We turned it around and got on the attack, Lee took a nice corner and Hannah got to work in the box. It switched again and we were on the defensive, with Matthew having to make a save and Oliver and Lee putting the work in too. Sean made an attempt on goal which just needed a bit more power. Oliver was next in line to have a go, but it bounced off the post, there was a scuffle around the goal which ended with their keeper picking the ball up. We kept on moving forward with Lee getting a couple of corners in, it got scrappy in the box again but we made it work - goal number 1 for Hannah! Matthew W and Ethan produced some good work in defence with Oliver making a great tackle before the half-time whistle.
Lily came on for Ethan in the second-half and within the first minute Lee got goal number 2 – fantastic! Sean followed with a good attempt on goal; then their keeper had to make a great save from a superb shot from Oliver. The ball went from end-to-end with their keeper doing some work and Matthew made a nice save for our team. Oliver and Lily teamed up for a further effort on goal before Lily had to turn her attention to defending again Holy Spirit kept Lee running and Matthew W put his skills to good use, another effort from Oliver was kept out. Lee and Hannah had an attempt on goal blocked followed by a near miss from Hannah to finish the game.
