It was a cold, wet and blustery morning for the Long Eaton squad and supporters travelling to Gedling.
The pre-match talk from the Long Eaton manager was all about the team showing determination right from the start and when the match kicked off it was apparent the boys had taken this on board.
Long Eaton was soon passing the ball around confidently, making chances and on eight minutes Samuel was on target to score the opening goal. The rest of the half continued with more good play from the Long Eaton team and were unlucky not to increase their one goal lead.
Half time score 1 v 0.
The second half continued where the first left off with Long Eaton dominating and Gedling chasing the game. Five minutes in and Long Eaton got their second with a well worked goal from Leon. Two minutes later Ethan was in the right place at the right time to make it three. Gedling worked hard and two minutes later got their reward by pulling a goal back. Long Eaton kept their passing game going and in doing so created more chances, with Samuel and Leon both scoring again before the end. Final Score 1 v 5.
In summary, a game that Long Eaton dominated right from the start with Gedling always chasing the game. Nathan continued with his confident form, George and Ashley worked well again in defense, both players making significant contributions when switching defense into attack. Ben was solid in the middle linking up well with the defense, wingers and strikers. Samuel was full of trickery on the wing which Gedling found difficult to deal with. Leon again showed his versatility on the wings and in attack, Owen played with grit and determination and made some superb passes. Strikers Euan and Ethan made it difficult for the Gedling defense, battling well and keeping busy. Many thanks to Gedling’s team manager and supporters who made Long Eaton feel very welcome.
