Another difficult game in prospect with one of the highflying teams in Division 1 after the disappointment last week against Carlton We had full squad available, though, which has not happened for a few weeks due to illness so we were pretty confident. After two pitch inspections, it was decided match could start
Game got started on a slightly hard surface due to snow and freezing temperatures, and ball was skidding around to start with, but all the lads started to apply themselves well. Liam & Jacko were getting breaks down the flanks, and Bradley was holding ball well. Stephen was bossing midfield, and holding well. Same just behind him was making some good passes, and no one was beating Matthew. When the ball got to Lewis, his kicking was excellent, getting real distance today.
Bridgford, though, had some strong players, who we needed to be aware of. With Stephen keeping a grip of his duties in the middle of the park, they had little opportunity to take any command. Well done Stephen. Then, big kick from Lewis beat their back line and Bradley swooped on the ball, round the keeper, 1-0 . Excellent Finish Bradley! Jacko was making some telling runs and good crosses. Liam was also having good game tackling back and making good runs down right flank After some great linking up with our passing game with Sam, Stephen, Bradley, the ball broke away to Jacko outside the box, who’s superbly struck left foot shot crashed into the top of their goal, 2-0 to Long Eaton!
Half Time : 2-0 to Long Eaton
Once again, we started second half in a daze, might have to stop the oranges! Bridgford came out all guns firing as they put all our lads on the back foot. With Matthew and Sam working hard to keep them out.Now all the Long Eaton managers were shouting their orders, lads looked a bit bemused. Then one of the strong Bridgford lads crashed through about three sets of our tackles and blasted it into net. Now 2-1 to Long Eaton. This seemed to wake Long Eaton up, and now we started to get a grip again in the midfield, our long throws were also causing problems, now we had fresh legs with William , Ben, and Joe coming on. We had a few more chances with William and Ben going close. In fact, one chance, I think it was harder to miss than score! Joe had a couple of shots, solidly hit , but off target. We held on till the end to get a good victory
Full Time : 2-1 to Long Eaton MOM: Sam
